How to enter bios on clevo

By sanjiJuly 9, in Clevo. It's no biggie but if my os ever dies I'll have no way of getting into the bios to fix it :S.

This hasn't really gone anywhere and it's not really a big deal for now but I do have another unrelated question, I have the GTX mand with the stock vbios I'm not reaching anywhere near the advertised clock speeds I bought this laptop from PC Specialists with a W psu, but surely they would have taken the power supply into account when they bundled it with an m laptop?! Thanks Prema, If it means anything I think I found out my original problem.

Clevo W230SS 1.03.06 motherboard BIOS - Clevo_W230SS

I had my bios set to "legacy" mode, so I could reach safemode with F8 I found it really stupid that I had to be able to access windows before I could restart in safemode But after searching google further I found that legacy mode is causing people to be unable to access Bios at post So it was completely unrelated to your mod anyways, just a coincidence.

Also, Sorry to post another question here, I just find it better than making hundreds of threads :. I've installed a vBios mod for the m, and it's all great! But I do have one question, and I don't know whether it would be better posting here since it's a clevo related problem or in the vBios thread. It seems pointless having it max at 90 only to drop again If you are already using it then that's how Clevo has intended it and I wouldn't worry about it. I have a related question - just installed some 8.

I tried to press F2 or F2 when switching power off, but still can't get to bios You can post now and register later. If you have an account, sign in now to post with your account. Paste as plain text instead. Only 75 emoji are allowed. Display as a link instead.

One reason to clear CMOS is to help troubleshoot or solve certain computer problems or hardware compatibility issues. Below are three very different ways to clear CMOS. Any one method is as good as any other but you may find one of them easier, or whatever problem you might be having may restrict you to clearing the CMOS in a particular way. While the default settings for most modern motherboards will usually work just fine, if you've made changes yourself, like those related to overclockingyou'll have to make those changes again after resetting BIOS.

The exact menu option in your particular motherboard's BIOS may differ but look for phrases like reset to defaultfactory defaultclear BIOSload setup defaultsetc. Every manufacturer seems to have their own way of wording it.

Finally, choose to save the settings and then restart the computer. It should be easy enough, however, as long as you can find that reset option. Start by making sure your computer is unplugged. If you're using a laptop or tabletmake sure the main battery is removed, too. Next, open up your computer's case if you're using a desktop PC, or find and open the small CMOS battery panel if you're using a tablet or laptop computer.

Every laptop is different. Some may have a small battery compartment with its own cover, but many don't. Sometimes you will need to remove the whole back cover. Finally, remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes and then put it back in.

Close the case or battery panel and then plug in, or reattach the computer's main battery. By disconnecting and then reconnecting the CMOS battery, you remove the source of power that saves your computer's BIOS settings, resetting them to default. This is an increasingly common way that manufacturers of small computers include a CMOS battery.

Clearing CMOS, in this case, involves unplugging the white connector from the motherboard and then plugging it back in.Accessing BIOS can be necessary at times, and this is usually a very easy thing to do. However, if you've tried the basic BIOS access steps and still can't get in, the information here may help you. As your computer boots up, look for one of the following BIOS manufacturer's names to flash on the screen.

The BIOS manufacturer name usually appears as a logo in the top-left corner or as text at the very bottom of the screen. After verifying the creator of the BIOS on your system, reference the following list and use the appropriate keyboard command to access the BIOS setup utility. If you're not sure what the BIOS name is and can't seem to find it during a reboot, see the section at the bottom of this article for more help with this. If you haven't found the BIOS manufacturer of your system, and you can't see that information when you reboot, there are a few other methods for finding this information.

One easy method is to open a system information tool and look for BIOS information there. Most system information utilities should include that information. Another way to find the BIOS manufacturer that doesn't require a software download is to look in the System Information tool included in Windows. If you're still having trouble entering BIOS or can't figure out what company supplied the BIOS on your motherboard, here are some keyboard commands you might want to randomly try:.

It will work just fine without flashing the EC, but you can upgrade it if you want to, I might include it in the flash later on for people who want it. Will it be ok to flash your bios like this? Or do I need and updated EC?

It will be just fine. This document doesn't help if you cannot enter the CMOS setup because it is password-protected. Computers manufactured in the last few years allow you to enter the BIOS setup using one of the five keys shown below during the boot process.

F1, F2, and F10 are all function keys on the top of the keyboard. If F10 opens a boot menu, your setup key is likely F2. Setup keys are to be pressed as the computer is booting up. Most users see a message similar to the example below upon startup. Some older computers may also display a flashing block to indicate when to press the F1 or F2 keys. If you're unsure of what key to press, as the computer boots try pressing and holding one or more keys on the keyboard to cause a stuck key error.

Once you get this error, the option to continue or enter setup should appear. Documentation for the motherboard may also be found on the manufacturer's website. Once you have successfully entered the CMOS setup, a screen similar to the example below appears. Your CMOS setup may look different, depending on the manufacturer, but should still share a lot of the same options and information.

You may use the arrow keys along with the Enter key to select categories and change their values. Some manufacturers may have you press the Page up and Page down keys to change the values. If you're trying to change the clock, speed, or other settings and don't have the option available, it's because the motherboard doesn't support it.

If you believe it should be supported, you may need a BIOS update. If changes you made appear to revert to default settings or the date and time setting in the BIOS keeps falling behind, you may need to replace the CMOS battery. If any changes are made, you need to save those changes, which is usually done by pressing the F10 key on the keyboard. If F10 doesn't work, look at the bottom or top of the screen for the key that is used to save the settings. Unlike the computers of today, older computers before had numerous methods of entering the BIOS setup.

Below is a listing of key sequences to press as the computer is booting to enter the BIOS setup. If your Acer computer cannot boot or you want to restore the BIOS to its original settings, press and hold the F10 key as you turn on the computer. While continuing to hold the F10 key, two beeps should be heard indicating that the settings are restored. Early, and computers required a floppy disk to enter the BIOS setup.

Because these diskettes are unique to your computer manufacturer, you must obtain the diskettes from them.
